Web analytics is the method of analyzing the behavior of visitors to a Web site.

Web analytics helps a business to attract more visitors, retain or attract new customers for goods or services, or to increase the dollar volume each customer spends.

They do this by keeping track of Website visitors actions. For example what pages they move to and from. How long they stay on a particular page and what pages they leave from.  Also, a list of keywords and keywords phrases are available for analysis about what the main keywords that bring visitors to your Website.

There are many website analytics programs. Most website hosts provide a free or low cost website analytic tool. Also Google Analytics is another very good free website analytic tool.

Web analytics typically include tracking the click through and drilldown behavior of customers within the Web site, determining the sites from which customers most often arrive, and communicating with browsers to track and analyze online behavior. The results of Web analytics are provided in the form of tables, charts, and graphs.
